Accessibility Standards

We have long been proponents of the careful construction of websites and web pages so as to work well for people who use screen readers and other assistive technologies. In addition to supporting an increasingly-large segment of the overall web audience (and being a requirement for sites from United States federal agencies and many other governments around the world), adherence to accessibility standards such as the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative tends to make sites more visible to search engines and easier to update.

From simple things like ensuring that all images have alternate (alt tag) text to more complex solutions such as media-appropriate stylesheets, text-size switching, and tableless design, we have helped clients such as Enable and Syracuse University's Division of Student Support and Retention ensure that their sites present content in a manner suitable for users who employ assistive technologies.
