Blog » Upcoming Speaking/Conferences

We’re lucky to be connected to a wide variety of communities and groups. Here’s a partial list of upcoming speaking and presentation engagements:

Brian Hoke will be presenting a talk on June 29th at WordCamp Montreal on jQuery and WordPress. Intended for developers, the presentation will focus on how to use jQuery, the popular JavaScript library, to enhance and extend websites built in WordPress, the ubiquitous open-source content management system. Topics covered will include how to add the library and custom JavaScript files to WordPress, how to manipulate page elements, and examples of adding features such as autocomplete and post filtering to WordPress templates.

On June 1st, Brian Hoke will moderate a panel discussion of alumni from Manlius Pebble Hill School about technology careers. Part of MPH’s Clambake Weekend alumni event and titled “eMPHasis Technology,” the session features recent alums who are working in technology-related careers. The panelists, hailing from New York City, Syracuse, and Chicago, will discuss their diverse work in fields including design, development, entrepreneurship, and marketing.

Later this summer, Brian Hoke will present several more three-day workshops on Ruby on Rails development for staff at Yale University. A continuing series of courses for technical staff at the college, the training courses are designed to improve the skills of staff in using this web application framework for building complex, database-backed web applications.
